World’s best Crank It Up for Track World Cup

The Great Britain track cycling team, including four-time Olympic and ten-time world champion Sir Chris Hoy, have arrived in Melbourne for the Track World Cup which begins this Thursday.

 

The prospect of qualification points for the London Olympics has enticed the strongest field ever assembled at a Melbourne Track World Cup.

 

Hoy leads a full strength British squad, which also includes Olympic and eight-time world champion Victoria Pendleton and fellow Olympic champions Jason Kenny (team sprint - 2008),Ed Clancy (teams pursuit – 2008) and Jason Queally (kilometre time trial – 2000).

 

After topping the medal tally at the world championships in March and dominating at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, the Australian Cyclones, lead by triple Commonwealth Games gold medalists Anna Meares and Cameron Meyer, will be looking to withhold the international invasion and impress on home soil.

 

The Melbourne Track World Cup will be held from this Thursday, 2 December to Saturday, 4 December at Hisense Arena.
