Quick-Step Cycling Team to Eneco Tour
5-Aug-2011: Quick-Step Cycling Team has announced the team will participate in the Riders Marco Bandiera (ITA) Sports Director Wilfried Peeters (BEL)
2011 edition of the Eneco Tour - 7 stages for a total of 968 kilometres of racing.
“The team is well and balanced for these types of routes. For the stages with sprinting arrivals the team can count on Ciolek and his fast spurts,” explains Sports Director Wilfried Peeters. “In the more challenging and gnarly stages, Devenyns, fresh off their Tour de France, will get his chance to shine, as will Stybar, who just finished up a high altitude retreat and who will be officially opening the second part of his season in this very race. The race will feature two tests against the clock: an opening prologue of 5.7 kilometres and a 14.7 kilometre time trial in Roermond, Holland. These two stages will also be important for the general classification, so athletes like Stybar and Devenyns will have to give it their all in order to not loose too much terrain on the specialists.”
The Eneco Tour will also be a professional debut for Matteo Trentin, the Italian Under 23 champion who will be wearing the Quick-Step Cycling Team jersey for the first time in an official race.
